I never denied it before. In my opinion, the meaning of life differs for everyone- I don’t believe there is a definite answer. By progress, I meant moving forward in time and space while improving oneself mentally and physically to live to his/her fullest potential. To me, that potential is to create the perfect balance between the subjective and objective. Although, we won’t stay on that course once we think we’ve reached it. We’re continuously changing mentally and physically. My own subjectivity (opinions/thoughts/preferences) may change many times throughout my life depending on my experiences and how I make use of the time that is given to me. Therefore, my meaning of life may change when I’m 30 or 40.
The end of life is inevitable. I don’t think many humans look forward to the end- otherwise they are depressed or would’ve already made the end happen… both are due to the constant flow of negative thoughts/emotions.
Tell me your thoughts… Do you think there is only one meaning of life?
It’s 1:50am, I was just thinking random thoughts as usual before drifting to sleep until I asked myself: what is the meaning of life? - a question that just came back to mind after being asked by a friend at a bar a few days ago. I’ve never taken a philosophy class and I don’t think I have the answer to that question (who does?) but there are definitely branches within the subject of life that helps the individual find the meaning for him/herself. My opinion is that life = progress. There are two different kinds of progresses of life: individual and communal (not sure if that’s the right word- within a group/community is what I mean). What is life without time? Time gives and is parallel with life but time can go on without it. Progress has led the human race to where it is today, which is civilization. Humans depended on one another to survive because of their will to. Animals like to live- they run away to survive and do what they can to sustain life. Although, I have heard stories of animals dying due to depression. This is where the subjective and objective can be discussed in terms of differences and its effects on life. It is a potentially extremely lengthy discussion which I don’t feel like making right now. I just created this web in my head as I attempted to answer that question, thought it was pretty good, and felt compelled to write it somewhere before I forget.
Time to return back to myself… and leave worry behind.
